Q.  When is Family Weekend 2016?

A.  September 29 - October 2, 2016

Q.  When should we arrive?

A.  Family Weekend kicks off Thursday afternoon and continues through brunch on Sunday. Events are scheduled throughout the weekend. While guests may arrive at any time during the weekend, please consider the schedule of events as you make your plans.

Q.  May younger siblings attend Family Weekend?

A.  Yes! Texas Tech's Family Weekend provides family members opportunities to experience their student's life on campus. Please use your best judgment in terms of bringing very young siblings along for events and sessions.

Q. Do students have the day off on Friday?

A.  No, students do not have Friday off.  Check with your student to see what his/her schedule permits.

Q. Where do I purchase Family Weekend football tickets?

A. Be sure to buy your tickets through TTPA in our ONLINE STORE for Tech Parents Family seating. Click the link on the FW2016 Tickets page for discounted tickets.  Tickets purchased through TTU ATHLETICS will NOT be grouped with Tech Parents..  All questions related to those sales need to be directed to Athletics.

Q. Where do we go when we arrive on campus to pick up information and ask questions for the weekend?

A.  Check in at Family Weekend Central described on the Schedule.

Q.  Are there other ticketed events during Family Weekend besides the football game?

A.  Yes.  Tech Parents offers DISCOUNTED tickets to catered events. Some events do not require tickets.  Please check the Family Weekend Schedule.

Q. Can I purchase event tickets at the door?

A. Maybe.  Family Weekend events always sell out and there are usually very few tickets available at the door.  You are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.  CHECK DEADLINES!.

Q. Do I need to buy Family Weekend event tickets for my Texas Tech student?

A. YES. Texas Tech students need tickets to catered events.

Q. Do I need to buy a football ticket for my student?
A. No. Students are admitted to all Texas Tech home games free with their Tech IDs to sit in the student section. (If you wish for your student to sit with you at the game, you will need to purchase a football ticket for him/her.)

Q. I need accessible seating for the football game, but the online ordering won’t let me select specific seats. What do I do?

A. Contact  the Athletic Ticket Office at 806-742-4412.

Q. If I order tickets for Family Weekend events, and am unable to attend,  can I get a refund?

A. No. Neither the Athletic Department nor the Texas Tech Parents Association offers refunds. As an alternative, TTPA will provide you with a tax deduction, donation letter to file with your income tax return.

Q. How do I purchase Family Weekend T-Shirts?
A. Family Weekend T-shirts are for sale through our Online Store.

Q.  Will Family Weekend T-Shirts be mailed to me?

A.  NO!  T-Shirts will be available for pick-up at Family Weekend Central Check-in.  NO DELIVERY and NO SHIPPING. Parents and/or students may bring the receipt and pick them up. If you do not pick up the shirts at check-in, your student has two weeks after FW2016 to pick them up from the Office of Parent & Family Relations in the SUB.  After 2 weeks, t-shirts will be returned to inventory.  NO REFUNDS.

Q. What will I receive in the mail?

A.  If you purchase football tickets through TTPA, you will receive them in the mail by September 20. Catered event tickets and T-shirts are not mailed. A confirmation is generated for you and sent to the e-mail address you provide. You will receive emails in the days prior to Family Weekend to share pre-arrival information you may need. Please make sure your email address is current and that your spam filter does not block parents@texastechparents.org.  In the meantime, return to this website for updates and additions to the schedule of events.

Q. What kind of activities should I expect at the Tech Parents Tailgating?

A. Tailgating  is great family fun with games, prizes and great food!

Q.  Does my ticket for tailgating provide a parking space?

A.  NO. If you wish to purchase a parking pass, contact the Red Raider Club at 806-742-1196.

Q. How can I find a hotel room?

A. Family Weekend is very popular and Lubbock hotels fill up quickly. Tech Parents has blocked rooms for TTPA members. You must provide your valid TTPA ID (found when you log into your account and access MANAGE PROFILE) Otherwise,

Kayak.com has a good search engine for hotels (not an endorsement). If you are a TTPA MEMBER in good standing (dues are current), click HERE

Q. Where do I park during Family Weekend?

A. Parking options are posted on our website and SUBJECT TO CHANGE.  For safety concerns, Texas Tech requires you to register your automobile before you arrive on campus.  You may do this at any time.  Please visit our Family Weekend Parking page.

Q. Where may I park my RV?
A. Please call 806-742-PARK for RV/motor home parking information on campus. Alternately, there are RV campgrounds in and around Lubbock.  A list of RV parks around Lubbock is on our Family Weekend Parking page

Q. What is the Raider Raffle?

A. Raider Raffle is an opportunity to win up to $2,500, applied toward tuition in the spring semester. Raider Raffle winners are drawn during the Texas Tech 60th Anniversary Dinner on Saturday, October 1, 2016.  To increase your chance to win, only 600 tickets are for sale.

Q. What is the weather like in Lubbock in late September?

A.  Lubbock weather is somewhat unpredictable.  It could be sunny and in the low 80s OR overcast and in the high 50s!  The best we can tell you: Lubbock has a cold semi-arid climate. At that time of year, it is mostly sunny about 60% of the time.  Naturally, check the weather forecast a couple of days ahead of time.

Q.  What if I have more questions?

A.  If you still have questions, contact TTPA at parents@texastechparents.org or 806-412-4722.
